We oftentimes weigh where we are in our lives when we’re in pain. Pain, whether physical, mental or emotional is an awful feeling. Think about the pain you feel when the doctor sticks you with a needle, hitting your big toe on a chair or ending a relationship. The pain can literally stop you in your tracks.
There are a few ways that we tend to deal with pain:
Almost all of us have said at least once “How the heck did I get here?” For many people, this is the beginning of a critical turning point because they start to question things in their lives.
“Do I want to be married?” “Do I want to have kids?” “Is this the right job?” “What is my purpose in life?”
For those of you who welcome the chance to grow, this turning point is the perfect opportunity to do a life review.
You may have done life reviews before which caused you to change…
Experiencing pain can teach you to better master your emotions, which gives you choices and opens up opportunities that didn’t exist before. Instead of living in denial, you take responsibility for your actions. Instead of guilt, you choose happiness. Using pain as an agent for change can help you grow and develop. So the next time you experience pain, ask yourself: “Do I want to bury it, allow it to bury me or rise above it?” The choice is yours. Choose with intention and in truth.
